E.V. Day received her MFA from Yale University in 1995. Her installations, called “Exploding Couture,” in which she suspends blown up women’s dresses in space, began in 1999. Her piece, “Bombshell,” was included in the 2000 Whitney Biennial, and she also had a solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum at Altria in 2001, where she installed “G-Force,” in which hundreds of thongs were suspended from the ceiling in fighter jet formations. For Blackbook, she collaborated with the Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black—who better than to model an exploding Chanel Suit?
