E.V. Day, a sculptor who makes politically tinged art with and about women’s clothes, has peppered the two story sculpture sort of the Philip Morris Building with a couple of hundred stretched, rigidified thongs and G-Strings. The undies hang from fishing line in swooping formations that evoke fighter planes or migratory birds. What topic of civil concern might be addressed by a storm of racy apparel is far from clear, but a lazy viewer may marvel at the architectonic rigor of current naughty-duds design.

120 Park Ave at 42nd st. (878-2550) — The sculptor E.V. Day has hung a mildly embarrassing array of thongs and G-Strings (strenuously ignored by midtoewners who lounge beneath it) in the Philip Morris sculpture court. The display is lyrical and nasty in about equal measure. Too small to register strongly in the vast space, the origami like units await a wandering eye. Through Dec. 16.
